Real estate sales in Turkey in the first half of 2019
The number of real estate sold to foreigners across the country reached 19,952 in the first half of 2019

Real estate sales to foreigners in Turkey recorded a record high in the first half of this year, an increase of 68.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of properties sold to foreigners across the country reached 19,952 in the first half of 2019.
This increase is the highest in real estate sales to foreigners between January and June, in Turkey's history.
Real estate sales to foreigners throughout Turkey amounted to 11,816 in the first half of last year.
At the level of last June, sales to foreigners reached 2,689 properties, an increase of 30.5 percent, which is the best performance this month.
Official data indicate that Istanbul maintained the lead among Turkish cities in the number of real estate sold to foreigners in the mentioned period.
Sales in Istanbul to foreigners increased from 764 in June 2018 to 1009 properties in June 2019.
Antalya ranked second with 668 properties, followed by Ankara with 134 properties, Yalova with 123 properties, a stock exchange with 122 properties, and Trabzon with 111 properties.
In the first half of 2019, foreigners bought 8,903 properties in Istanbul, 4,093 in Antalya, 1,111 in Ankara, 1,000 in Bursa, and 811 in Yalova.
The Iraqis maintained the first place among the most foreigners buying real estate in Turkey during the first half of this year, with 3337 properties.
The Iranians came in second place with 2,202 properties, the Russians ranked third with 1,264 properties, the Saudis ranked fourth with 1,094 properties, and Afghans came in fifth place with 987 properties.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Ibrahim Babacan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish “Babacan” Holding Company, indicated the increase in foreign interest in buying real estate in Turkey thanks to the high-end, comfortable and profitable projects in terms of investment.
He explained that one of the most important factors that contributed to the sales visit during the first half of this year is the activation of procedures that facilitate the foreigners to complete transactions in investments.
Adam Atmaja, chairman of the Turkish “Atmaja” group of companies, told Anadolu Agency that sales to foreigners revived the real estate sector in the country.
